From world designer collections on the fashion stage, to predictions from internet searches, ribbons are predicted to dominate the fashion scene in 2024. However, what kind of ribbons are on the trend radar?
Near the end of each year, Pinterest releases lifestyle and entertainment trend predictions for the following year based on the searches of its 500 million users. The data source comes from English searches with the analysis period September 2021 – August
2023.

Fashion is among the highlighted categories. Based on this report, it is known that many Pinterest users will look for fashion inspiration using the word ‘ribbon’ throughout 2023.
The phrase ‘clothing with ribbons’ tops the list with searches +190 percent, followed by ‘ribbon necklaces’ at +180 percent, then ‘knitted ribbons’ +80 percent.

There is also ‘ribbon aesthetic’ +55 percent. Specifically, Pinterest users were also interested in ‘banded heels’ where searches reached +40 percent.
This ribbon ‘euphoria’ may be the effect of the collections from designers that have emerged over the past year. Just mention Balmain (Fall 2024) and Carolina Herrera. Meanwhile in Indonesia, designers such as Hian Tjen and Studio Jeje apply ribbons with a local touch.
